How To Utilize An Automated External Defibrillator?

Use of external defibrillator:

If a person experiences the state of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), the possibility of death could be in a matter of minutes if they don't receive the appropriate treatment. Anyone trained in basic Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and comfortable with an Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED) can assist the patient in staying in good health until emergency medical assistance arrives. Here are some easy-to-follow steps to do just that.

1. Try to wake the person before you try to utilize external defibrillator:

The AED will ensure that the person has not fallen asleep or fainted. You can try to awaken the patient by shouting and shaking. However, do not try to surprise the child or toddler. Please give them a small pinch instead.

2. Begin giving CPR and make the AED.

If they don't awaken, Call the emergency service & Immediately start administering CPR. If you need help, shout for help. Are on your own. Anyone who responds takes an automated external defibrillator or AED. Get started with your AED by following the instructions when the AED is accessible. An AED is simple to use. Instructions are clear and audible from the unit once you switch it on.

3. Check that the space is dry.

Before applying the AED, Make sure the area is dry. If the individual is sitting on wet ground or when there is a puddle or pond, You should stream within arm's distance of the individual and move the person to a dry place because water conducts electrical current.

4. Place  electrode pads on the chest.

Remove the chest cover and dry it if damp. Place the electrode pads on the chest, as indicated in the Automatic External Defibrillator display. The correct placement is vital. You must ensure that one spot is placed below the left nipple and on the left side of your ribcage.

Place the other one over the right nipple, on the right-hand side of your chest. If the person is wearing implants for medical devices, such as a cardiac defibrillator or pacemaker, ensure that the pads are approximately 1 inch away from the device to ensure proper blood flow. You can recognise the machines as they appear beneath the abdominal skin orchestra.

Please eliminate any obstructions,  patch medication or a bra with wires under it, a metal chain, or body piercing. Anything that comes in contact with the chest's skin could conduct electricity from the shock and result in burns. If you have a good quantity of hair on the chest, cut it with the razor or scissors provided inside the AED kit. Pads' adhesive needs to be appropriately connected to the skin to give a good shock. If not, the unit will indicate that you should check the electrodes.

5. Click" wonder" and press the "shock" button when needed.

If a surprise is required, the AED will notify you and ask the user to avoid the person. Based on the model, it will either automatically apply the shock or direct you to press "shock" or the "shock" button.

6. Resume CPR.

Resume CPR once that shock is administered. After the surprise is delivered, your AED will determine if a second one is required. Continue the CPR process while waiting for medical personnel who will arrive or until the patient begins to recover. Only let the person in the care of a stranger once directed to do so by the medical professionals.
