- Set the air compressor on an even surface.
- Unfold the mattress and place it on a foam mattress so that the connection is towards the foot.
- Connect one of the tubes with the pump and another end to the mattress. Connect it securely and ensure the oil and lubes are not getting caught in the air mattress.
- Switch on the pump by connecting the pump to a 220V AC source. A green light will become visible as the mattress is set to begin inflating.
- Maintain the knob for pressure adjustment at its leading position at the beginning. It can take about 10 minutes for your mattress to inflate fully.
- The pump must always be on when you use it; otherwise, the mattress could deflate.
- Adjust the pressure with the knob to adjust the pressure in such a direction that there are two fingers between the deflated air bubbles and the person using it.
FAQ's :
- Why is a lateral turning mattress important?
Ans - Turning patients at a 30° lateral position (lowest max pressure in lateral position) every 4 hours on an alternating pressure mattress significantly reduces pressure ulcer incidences by 85% and labor intensity for caregivers and improves patient comfort and overall effort- and cost-efficiency.
2. Will a pressure mattress or alpha bed help in preventing ulcers?
Ans - Various types of beds, overlays and mattresses can be used for treating pressure ulcers, including alternating pressure (active) air surfaces, reactive air surfaces, high‐specification reactive foam surfaces, and alternative reactive support surfaces that are made of neither foam materials or air cells.
